Who collects your information
Compare Kiwi (comparekiwi.co.nz) collects and holds the information you give us on this website. You can contact us at hello@comparekiwi.co.nz. The name and address of the business that operates Compare Kiwi are included in the disclosure information the adviser sends you, and we'll give them to you at any time if you email us.
What we collect
- Your name, mobile number, email address and region.
- If you use our quick-check form: your age range, work situation, whether you smoke or vape, and a yes/no answer about major health conditions.
- Your answers to the questions on our forms, such as roughly what you pay for insurance or which KiwiSaver fund type you're in.
- Which ad or link brought you to the website, and basic information about your visit.
On our quick-check form we also ask whether you smoke or vape, and whether you have any major health condition. That's a yes or no answer only, and you can choose to discuss it on the call instead. Insurers treat these differently, so it helps the adviser look at the right options. We don't ask for health details, policy documents or KiwiSaver statements on this website, and these answers are never sent to Facebook or any advertising platform.
Why we collect it
So a licensed financial adviser can contact you about the check or chat you asked for, and to keep a record of that contact as financial advice rules require. We also use combined, anonymous figures to see which of our ads are working.
Who we share it with
- One licensed financial adviser who advises on the area you asked about (insurance or KiwiSaver), and the Financial Advice Provider they advise on behalf of, which may need records for compliance.
- Service providers who help us run the website and keep records: Netlify (website hosting and form storage), Twilio (sending a one-time code by text to confirm your mobile number), Web3Forms (backup form delivery), Google (email and spreadsheets) and Meta (ad measurement, if you arrived from a Facebook or Instagram ad). Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand.
We don't sell your information, and we don't pass it to other advisers, insurers, KiwiSaver providers or call centres.
Do you have to give it to us?
No, it's voluntary. Without a phone number or email address, though, an adviser can't contact you.
Contacting you
When you tick the consent box, you agree to the adviser contacting you by phone, text or email about the check you asked for. You can opt out at any time: reply STOP to a text, use the unsubscribe link in an email, or email us.
How long we keep it
If you don't go ahead with advice, we delete your details within 12 months of our last contact with you, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. If you become a client, the adviser keeps records as financial advice rules require.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email hello@comparekiwi.co.nz. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Cookies and tracking
If you arrive from one of our ads, we may use the Meta Pixel to measure whether the ad led to an enquiry. It doesn't send your form answers to Meta. You can manage ad tracking in your Facebook or Instagram settings and your browser.
